Rapidly growing boutique investment advisory firm in East Greenwich, RI seeking aspiring talent in our Investment Management department. The ideal candidate brings at least 3 years’ comparable experience in an investment management firm (registered investment advisor), broker dealer, or trust company and possesses a strong work ethic and an amiable attitude that contributes to the esprit de corp of our office!
The Portfolio Manager (PM) supports a fast-paced, multi-branch/advisor office in discretionary asset management for high net worth family clients and corporate retirement plans. Primarily responsible for portfolio management activities, trading, and rebalancing to model targets in Black Diamond® and RedBlack®. Portfolios are comprised primarily of mutual funds and ETFs but may also include individual stocks and bonds, 1940 Act registered and Reg. D alternative investments, separately managed accounts (SMAs) and Unified Managed Accounts (UMAs).
Assist in securities research and model development using Morningstar Direct® and Value Line®. Employs experienced professional judgment using best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage accounts in a discretionary, fiduciary capacity to maintain compliance with risk-based Investment Policy Statements, model targets, and applicable regulations
- Facilitate client cash flow needs, tax preferences, and unique circumstances
- Assist the Chief Investment Officer and Sr. Portfolio Manager in preparing quarterly deliverables for fiduciary review meetings and performance reports
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and co-workers through excellent written, verbal, and face-to-face communications
- Maintain strong knowledge of economic and global financial markets
- Maintain expertise in a handful of assigned industries and companies
- Identify opportunities for improvement portfolio management practices and processes and make recommendations
- Collaborate with the investment team and investment committee to perform due diligence on new investment opportunities, processes, and technology
Key Competencies:
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills to efficiently evaluate complex investment strategies and develop recommendations
- Critically assess risk management and opportunities using information gleaned from a variety of direct and third party sources (Mosaic Theory). Understand and evaluate risk and performance metric reporting.
- Multi-task effectively and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain a thorough understanding of economics, financial markets, industry trends, emerging issues and technologies, and risk management practices
- Attend relevant industry conferences and meetings
- Demonstrate sound judgment and calm, well-reasoned decision making in fast-paced situations that may involve complex issues, market actions, and potentially opposing viewpoints.
- Compose high quality and influential direct written correspondence advocating the firm’s approach and philosophy to wealth management clients, asset manager contacts, and centers of influence.
- Serve as a valuable department resource on high-level projects, workgroups, and strategic initiatives. Provide expert commentary on proposed revisions to policy and procedures.

Job Qualifications:
- CFA designation strongly preferred
- Series 65
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of related work experience (preferably, in a small-to-mid sized RIA)
- Retail and Institutional client experience and interfacing a plus
- Experience using data analytics, portfolio accounting, rebalancing, and order routing software (Morningstar Direct, Value Line, Black Diamond, RedBlack)
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office 365 and other software platforms
- Located in our E. Greenwich (West Warwick) office
